 Chicago has been and always will be a great town for sports. This is easy to see by taking a close look at the Allstate Arena. This venue, originally named the Rosemont Horizon, opened in 1980, and will be hosting events for many more years into the future. Not only does the Allstate Arena attract sporting events, but concerts are popular there as well.
For most events at the Allstate Arena, a seating capacity of 20,000 is the norm. This makes it one of the largest all around multi-purpose venues in the country. Before taking the name Allstate Arena, this venue was known as Rosemont Horizon for 19 years.
There are three teams that currently use Allstate Arena for homes games. They include the DePaul University basketball teams, the Chicago Wolves of the IHL/AHL, and the Chicago Rush of the AFL. All of these teams make sure that the venue is always packed no matter what time of the year it is. But of course, there is also time for other events to stop by as well.
The arena is a Midwestern cornerstone for World Wrestling Entertainment. It has hosted three WrestleManias (2, 13, and 22), as well as several other pay-per-view events including the 1989 Survivor Series, Judgment Day 1998, Backlash 2001, The Wrestling Classic, and No Mercy 2007. It also hosted the first WCW Spring Stampede in 1994.
Some of the most popular names in the music and entertainment industry have played at the Allstate Arena. When you combine this with the many sporting events, you can see why this venue has held up so well over the past 25 years!
